About IACM

Institute for African Church Movement (IACM)

The Institute for African Church Movement (IACM) is a theological, research, and leadership development institute under the African United Christian Leaders Association, Nigeria (AUCLAN). It was established to strengthen the African Church through holistic theological education, context-sensitive ministry training, and innovative academic programs. IACM exists as a pan-African response to the crises, complexities, and opportunities confronting the Church in Africa today.

Rooted in AUCLAN’s vision for ecclesial transformation, IACM serves as the academic and intellectual arm of the movement, cultivating leaders who are biblically sound, spiritually discerning, socially aware, and prophetically bold. With an interdisciplinary curriculum that integrates theology, leadership, peacebuilding, cultural intelligence, and economic development, IACM is positioned to shape the future of African Christianity.

BACKGROUND AND HISTORICAL CONTEXT

The Institute for African Church Movement (IACM) emerged as a response to the pressing need for contextual theological education and indigenous leadership development in Africa. Historically, theological training on the continent has largely mirrored Western models that often overlooked the spiritual, cultural, and socio-political intricacies of African communities. IACM was birthed from the desire to reclaim African theological heritage, equip the Church to face contemporary realities, and revitalize the African Christian witness.

Rooted in the legacies of African Christian pioneers and movements, IACM builds on decades of theological reflection, ecclesial resistance, and spiritual transformation to raise a new breed of Christian leaders who are spiritually grounded and socially conscious. The Institute represents a new phase in the intellectual and missional evolution of the African Church—one that honors its past, engages the present, and prepares for the future.
